Nothing left

Hanging on by a thread,

there’s nothing left to say.

The frayed strands are beyond repair,

there’s nothing left to say.

So we wait for the thread to snap,

there’s nothing left to say.

We look now,

at each other,

deeply,

with nothing left to say

and my heart feels nothing less

than it did long ago that day.

So we’re here

at the edge

of something unknown to us both,

wondering where life will lead us,

but for now,

with nothing left to say,

we hold hands

and wait

together.
